Crowdboard

All-hands game

Ten minutes of your all-hands that everyone joins in.

Crowdboard puts a game-show board on the big screen. Two halves of the room guess the most popular answers, buzzing in from their own phones, and colleagues at home play along from the video call. It runs in a web browser, so there’s nothing to install.

Free for up to 6 phones. No card needed.

Why it works for a big meeting

  • The whole room joins in

Two halves of the room play against each other: by floor, by department or by side of the aisle. Everyone shouts answers, and the phones buzz in.

  • Hear from everyone, not the front row

Ask the room a question like “Name the best thing about this quarter”. Everyone answers on their phone, and the most common answers become the next round, with points from the real counts.

  • Start before the day

Send a survey link the week before. The room’s own answers become the board, so the game is about your company, not a quiz from the internet.

  • Hybrid without the hassle

Share the board in Teams, Zoom or Meet, and colleagues at home buzz in from their own phones, which show the board as well.

  • Ten minutes on the agenda

Three rounds take about ten minutes: a break between the updates, or a way to finish on a high.

  • Kept clean

A phone can’t join with a rude name, and rude answers start off the board for the host to check, so nothing embarrasses anyone in front of the whole company.

Ready in three steps

Sign in on the host’s laptop. Everything else runs in a web browser.

  1. 1

    Write or pick the questions

In the host deck, write questions about your company, make a game from a topic and check every answer, or pick a ready-made game.

  2. 2

Put the board on the big screen

Open the board in the projector’s or TV’s web browser, or share it in the video call. It follows the host deck and shows each answer only when someone finds it.

  3. 3

    Let the phones buzz

People scan the code on the screen with their phone camera, type a name and pick a side. No app, and no accounts for players.

Questions to ask the room

Ask one of these in the game with Ask the room, or in a survey before the day. There are no answers here on purpose: the room’s own answers make the board.

  • Name something that made this quarter better.
  • Name one word that sums up this year at work.
  • Name something you’d like more of next year.
  • Name a tool you couldn’t do your job without.
  • Name the best thing about working here.
  • Name something every good meeting has.
  • Name a team you’d like to hear more from.
  • Name something you learned from a colleague this year.

Tips from the host’s side

  • Give each side a leader

Put two senior people on opposite sides as captains. A director buzzing in late, and getting it wrong, is the moment people remember.

  • Talk about the answers

When the room’s top answer turns up, say what you’ll do about it. That turns a game into a conversation.

  • Try it in the room first

Open the board on the projector the day before, and run a practice game with two practice phones from the host deck.

  • Share it afterwards

Send the game’s recap link in the company chat, so people who missed it can see what the room said.

Questions hosts ask

How many people can play?

Everyone can watch and shout answers. Up to 40 phones can buzz in on Team, and 200 on Enterprise. In a bigger room, one phone per table works well.

Can people at home join?

Yes. Share the board in the video call, and they buzz in from their own phones. See team games over a video call.

Will it work on our office network?

Usually with no changes, and phones can use mobile data. To be sure, open Check a network in the room a few days before, and send your IT team the short list if the network filters web traffic.

Can it show our company’s logo?

Yes, on Team and Enterprise: your logo and colours on the big screen and on every phone.

Can players use another language?

Players’ phones and the board work in English and Arabic, and a question can carry both, so the whole company plays one game.

What does it cost?

Team covers up to 40 phones and 5 hosts, and Enterprise up to 200 phones with company sign-in. See the plans, or talk to us about a bigger event.
